A Windham man is charged in connection with a crash Tuesday afternoon in Westbrook that left a dog dead.

Witnesses said they saw a pickup truck being driven by 35-year-old Brandon Michael Gross driving erratically near the intersection of Spring Street and Route 22.

Gross went off the road and then allegedly fled the scene when officers arrived, later hitting a tractor-trailer and rolling over.

He was arrested on several charges including driving to endanger and animal cruelty after a small dog that was in the pickup truck died of its injuries.
