A Sebago woman who was reported missing Saturday has been found dead.

Police say the body of Sarah McCarthy was found inside a car submerged in the Ossipee River in Parsonsfield. According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, a passerby noticed the vehicle submerged in the river around 1 p.m. Sunday.

Police say McCarthy was speeding on Route 25 and failed to navigate a turn, hitting a snowbank and landing in the river.

Our info partners at CBS 13 News report that McCarthy spoke with her family and friends after leaving work in Cornish Friday night, but police were told “she sounded very disoriented and claimed she did not know where she was.”

McCarthy was 28-years-old.
