AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) A Maine woman will spend half a year in jail on charges she forged her juvenile sister’s name on an official court summons for shoplifting.

Augusta resident Katelynn McLaughlin pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated forgery and theft. The Kennebec Journal reports she pleaded guilty Thursday at court in Augusta, also admitting she was in violation of her drug probation.

She was ordered to serve six months. In exchange for her pleas, the prosecutor dismissed a charge of failure to give the correct name.

Prosecutors say McLaughlin falsely identified herself as her 17-year-old half-sister while police were investigating a theft at a local department store. The sister later called police to inform them, and police say McLaughlin later admitted she forged her sister’s name.
