Woman Injured, Cited by Police in South Portland Crash

A 33-year-old woman has injuries and several traffic citations after crashing into a utility pole and knocking out power in South Portland during Wednesday’s snowstorm.

The woman was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with non-life-threatening injuries after crashing into the pole on Broadway near Lincoln St. at about 8:10 a.m.

Officers say she was given the citaions after they verified through GPS data that the area was plowed about 30 minutes (7:38 a.m.) before the crash.

Broadway was closed for almost eight hours to repair the power lines. The road reopened at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.

South Portland Police issued the following citations to the woman:
· Imprudent speed
· Failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle
· Changing course of travel when unsafe
