York police arrest two people from Texas on murder charges

Two murder suspects wanted in Texas were arrested in York.

Officers stopped 22-year-old Avery Stemmons and 21-year-old Karina Gonzalez Barreto, both from Killeen, Texas, after they were spotted walking on York Street on Tuesday.

The pair were taken to York County Jail, where they’re being held while they wait for Texas Rangers to arrive.

They were charged with murder, arson and abuse of a corpse.

Police also confiscated a gun they believe was used in the alleged murder.
