Young male arrested in South Portland for making serious threats, police say

A swat team arrested a young male who they say made serious threats against the South Portland community.

Police say the individual could face charges of arson, criminal mischief and theft by unauthorized taking.

According to the Portland Press Herald, police say other charges are possible as well.

In a statement, South Portland Police Chief Dan Ahern said, “several threats to cause serious harm to individuals and groups using specific weapons were verified.”

Police did not provide specific details about the threat or who was being targeted.

There’s no word on exactly were the individual is from, but police said he was arrested in the Elm St. area.
