Maine Veterans Spotlight 11/17/24

Jeff Pierce and The Maine Veterans Spotlight attended a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Family Member Update.

This was a combination of Federal agencies, including The Department of Defense (DoD), the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES) and Service Casualty Offices (SCO).

Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, Armed Forces Medical Examiner System and Service Casualty Offices personnel met with New England families of loved ones unaccounted for from past conflicts from the Vietnam War, the Korean War, the Cold War, and World War II. During the Family Member Update (FMU), families learned what the government is doing to bring their loved ones home, as well as had a chance to ask specific questions about their loved ones’ loss.

We had the opportunity to speak with Tim O’Leary, whose uncle was MIA from the Korean War. We also talked with Kathy Magrane, Susan Sorg, and Ellen Smith, who all had a loved one who are missing in action from World War II
