Senior meteorologist Joe Lundberg from AccuWeather discussed the extreme heat and humidity expected across the area, with temperatures potentially reaching the 90s. Despite the possibility of not breaking the 103-degree record for Portland, the combination of heat and humidity will make conditions miserable. A cool-down is expected to begin tomorrow, with temperatures dropping along the seacoast as a front moves in. Showers and thunderstorms are forecasted for Thursday night into Friday, followed by a beautiful weekend with temperatures in the mid-80s and low dew points. Looking ahead, August is expected to average above normal with frequent cold fronts providing relief from prolonged heat waves.
