Charlie Collins, Deputy Director for Workforce Training at Maine Community College System has had several relatives who have had cancer over the years, several have passed away from cancer. Charlie’s mother is currently be treated for skin cancer. He joined the campaign as it offered a chance to bring awareness to an important health issue during a year when normal fundraising activities cannot take place. This is Charlie’s first year as an ambassador.
Real Men Wear Pink is raising awareness and funds to support the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer by committing to raising at least $2,500 each and wearing pink every day in October. The campaign is designed to engage more male community leaders and influencers in the Society’s mission to eliminate breast cancer, which according to the latest American Cancer Society estimates, 1,370 women in Maine are expected to be newly diagnosed with and 180 are anticipated to die from this year.
