We speak with Stephanie Rivera , National Press Secretary with Republican State Leadership Committee.

A new Cygnal poll commissioned by the Republican State Leadership Committee finds that Democrats in Augusta are on the ropes ahead of November as a result of their disastrous economic agenda, and Republicans are on track to make gains in the Legislature.

The survey found:

  • Maine Democrats are only slightly leading on the state legislative generic ballot by just one point and well within the survey’s margin of error (48%-47%).
  • Independents prefer the Republican candidate by 5 points.
  • President Biden’s image in the state is underwater at 45%-52%.
  • The top issue Mainers want their state government to focus on is addressing the cost of living (31%).
  • The economic agenda Maine Democrats have pursued is deeply unpopular with voters.
  • Mainers are 69% less likely to vote for a state legislative candidate who supported legislation to raise the gas tax and the cost of home heating oil.
  • Mainers are 65% less likely to vote for a candidate for state legislature who voted to hike health care costs.
