Seaport Dental Center in Belfast is temporarily closing down with plans to reopen on a limited schedule.

The closure comes during a financial crisis for parent company Penobscot Community Health Care.

PCHC had stated in August that it needs $3 million within two months to avoid drastic cuts or bankruptcy.

State lawmakers from both parties have urged Governor Janet Mills to provide emergency funding.

Seaport Dental Center says it’ll resume limited dental services two Fridays per month beginning in late October or early November, once provider scheduling is finalized.

The limited schedule is expected to continue through spring 2027 as the health care provider says it’ll continue recruitment efforts.

Seaport Dental Center is not accepting new patients at this time, and is advising existing patients with immediate dental needs to contact PCHC’s Bangor Dental Clinic.
