A man who nearly hit a game warden with his ATV in Dayton is being sought by authorities.

Wardens say the man was riding on closed ATV trails and private property on April 10 when he was approached by game wardens who told him to stop.

Officials say he refused and nearly hit a warden with his ATV before speeding away, and took off again when confronted by a warden at the Dayton Country Store.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maine Warden Service at (207) 624-7076 and ask for Game Warden Carney or Game Warden Duplissie-Cyr.

In a statement, the warden service said:

“Illegally riding on private property and riding on closed ATV trails are two of the main reasons landowners post their property, often to all outdoor recreational activities, not just ATVs. Let’s do landowners a favor and find this man before he does this again.”
