18-year-old charged in Lewiston brawl death

LEWISTON, Maine (WGAN) An 18-year-old has been formally charged in the death of a man that resulted from a brawl in Lewiston’s Kennedy Park.

According to our info partners at CBS 13 news, an Androscoggin County grand jury indicted Emmanuel Nkurunziza with manslaughter and aggravated assault. The brawl, which happened in June of 2018, resulted in the death of 38-year-old Donald Giusti.

Nkurunziza was accused of tossing a rock which hit Giusti in the head. Giusti died three days later from blunt force trauma to his head and torso.

The teen will be tried as an adult.
