2 passengers killed in separate cars in Maine collision

PARIS, Maine (AP) A crash that killed two men in separate vehicles last week was preceded by a medical event that distracted one of the drivers, police said.

An initial investigation found that one of the drivers became distracted and crossed a center line when a passenger suffered a medical event. The other driver braked and swerved but was unable to avoid the collision, police said.

The Oct. 7 crash killed Joshua McDonnell, 32, of Bryant Pond, and Robert Johnson, 77, of Sumner, police said. The two men were passengers in the cars that collided.

Neither speed nor impairment appeared to be a factor in the collision, the Sun Journal reported. Two other people were injured in the crash and another refused treatment, the newspaper reported.
