AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Applications to participate in Maine’s fall deer hunt this year are now available online.

Maine has encouraged residents to participate in outdoor activities such as hunting during the state’s period of social distancing. It’s taking deer hunting applications until the end of the day on Aug. 17.

The permits are “any deer” permits that allow hunters to harvest deer of either sex. The drawing will be held on Sept. 11.

The state encouraged residents to apply online on Monday.
