A COVID-19 outbreak of 57 cases has been reported at a Cape Elizabeth facility that treats individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

The Maine CDC helped test roughly 100 residents and staff at Cape Memory Care.

Those tests follow a positive test involving a staff member on Wednesday.

The Portland Press Herald reports the initial results revealed that 45 residents and 12 staff at the facility tested positive for COVID-19.

Those cases were not included in the 58 new cases announced by the Maine CDC on Thursday.
