ORONO, Maine (AP) Six men say they’ll pay fines for hosting parties in Maine attended by a 19-year-old woman who died from acute intoxication from cocaine and alcohol and hypothermia.

The men pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor charge each of providing a place for minors to consume alcohol. Each defendant will face fines ranging from $500 to $1,750, with four ordered to perform community service.

The men weren’t convicted of directly causing the death of Orono resident Alexie Adams, who was found in a snowbank Feb. 3, 2018. The defendants were University of Maine students at the time. Defense attorneys say Adams’ death impacted their clients.

Prosecutor Devon DeMarco said Adams attended several parties in Orono on Feb. 2 before a designated driver dropped her off at the wrong address.
