PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) State health officials reported another 938 cases of coronavirus and eight deaths in Maine over the previous three days.

The update released Tuesday spans the period running from Saturday through Monday.

215 people with coronavirus are in Maine’s hospitals, with 72 of those patients receiving critical care and 31 on ventilators.

Although the state continues to see a high level of cases and hospitalizations compared to earlier in the pandemic, the rate of vaccinations rose in late October going into November.

The pace is expected to pick up with children ages 5-11 becoming eligible for shots of Pfizer’s vaccine. About 2,000 Maine kids in that age group have already received at least their first dose.

Roughly 73% of all Mainers ages five and up have been vaccinated.
