Agents Seize 2.5 Pounds of Meth in Mattawamkeag Bust

MATTAWAMKEAG, Maine (WGAN)  The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says a man has been charged after agents seized a large amount of meth from his home in Penobscot County.

Agents say the arrest is connected to the arrests made in Lincoln last week of 27-year-old Jared Fogg, of Lake Whales, Florida (and Maine) and Rogelio Rios, 29, of Labelle, Florida.  At that time, agents seized 125 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 42 grams of heroin, over $19,000 in cash and two 9mm handguns.

Monday night, agents, along with police, searched the home of Bruce McAlpine on Depot Street in Mattawamkeag.

Agents say 2.5 pounds, or 1,208 grams, of crystal methamphetamine was seized along with two rifles.

Tuesday, agents say they recovered six handguns and a sawed-off shotgun that were hidden along the side of a road in the town.  They say the guns were previously at McAlpine’s home, but he stashed then before agents searched his home Monday.

The 29-year-old McAlpine was charged with aggravated trafficking and taken to Penobscot County Jail

Drug agents say their investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information should contact them at 800-452-6457.
