AUBURN (WGME) — Auburn Police arrested Kawon Walker for aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs and on an outstanding warrant from Cumberland County for drug trafficking Saturday.
Auburn police officers responded on two separate occasions to an apartment building at 66 Dunn Street for reported domestic violence calls. When officers arrived on the first call, Walker, 22, fled to an unknown location.
The female party refused to cooperate with police regarding the complaint.
Police received a second call from a different party later in the evening, reporting a disturbance. The disturbance was also suspected of being a domestic violence incident.
According to Auburn Police, Walker once again fled the area but left a small trail of blood. The blood was determined to be from a cut sustained by Walker when he was breaking a window in the apartment.
Officers found Walker shortly after, hiding in a nearby apartment and placed him under arrest based on an outstanding warrant from Cumberland County.
During the investigation, officers discovered a backpack that had been stashed by Walker as he fled the apartment. Officers found a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $14,000, as well as a large amount of cash. The cash is believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
In addition to the outstanding warrant for Walker’s arrest for violation of bail conditions, Auburn police charged him with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, a class A crime. The charge is aggravated because of the amount of crystal methamphetamine, and the location and proximity of the arrest to Raymond Park.
