AUBURN, Maine (WGAN) Auburn police say a man accused of abducting a 13-year-old girl has been taken into custody.

Police said the girl was reported missing from her home on Monday evening. Her parents contacted police after one of the girl’s friends, who was on the phone with her, told them she had abruptly dropped off a call and seemed to be under duress.

Using surveillance footage, police tracked down the suspect’s vehicle and stopped it. The teen was inside with visible signs that she had been assaulted, according to police.

The suspect, 24-year-old Razel M. Gavin of Auburn, was armed with a loaded gun.

He faces several charges with more expected, and is being held without bail.

The girl was taken to the hospital and reunited with her parents.
