Auburn shooting suspect dies after fleeing the scene

AUBURN, Maine (WGAN) Police say a woman in Auburn was shot and the suspect involved died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The shooting was reported inside an Auburn apartment building around 9:30 Friday morning on University Street.

Police later located the suspect after he fled in his vehicle. He was identified as 40-year-old Daniel Brown of Auburn. He was taken to the hospital where he later died of his injuries, after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound when police found him in the woods in Turner.

The name of the shooting victim has not been released. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to the hand.
