Maine’s back-to-work bonus program attracted just 400 workers in June and July.

The state-funded program offered $1,500 to unemployed Mainers who landed a job and held onto it for at least eight weeks.

It was part of an effort to ease a workforce shortage in the state.

According to the Portland Press Herald, The Maine Dept. of Labor estimated the $10 million program could reach 7,500 workers.

The program ran from June 15 to July 25.
