Following years of legal battles with the city, the Bangor Mall has been condemned.

Signs appeared on the doors at the nearly 50-year-old mall on Monday, informing the public that the building is unfit for human habitation or use.

The mall’s owner, Namdar Realty Group, owes the city and an insurance company more than $2 million for multiple code violations related to a leaking roof and a broken sewer line, according to the Bangor Daily News.

J.C. Penney and Dick’s Sporting Goods are still accessible from the exterior doors, but doors connecting it with the rest of the mall have been shut.
