Belfast mayor will not seek re-election

BELFAST, Maine (WGAN) Belfast’s mayor, 28-year-old Samantha Paradis, will not be running for re-election.

According to the Bangor daily news, Paradis announced her decision Tuesday night at the city council meeting. she became Belfast’s youngest mayor, as well as the second female and first queer individual to hold the office when she was elected in 2017.

Paradis called her term as mayor one of the honors of her professional life, and says she is looking forward to finishing her term.
