Bicyclist Injured in Accident in Sanford

SANFORD, Maine (WGAN)  Sanford Police are investigating an accident involving a bicyclist.

Police say Wednesday evening, a bicyclist was hit while riding on Main Street.  Police say both the cyclist and driver were travelling north on Main Street when the accident happened near Acorn Street.

The bicyclist, 57-year-old James Comppen from Sanford, was taken to Southern Maine Medical Center before being taken by  LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center.  Police say he sustained a head injury as well as internal injuries.

The driver of the car, 17-year-old Madison Sullivan from Sanford, was unhurt.

Police say their investigation continues.
