Body recovered from Scarborough recycling facility

Scarborough police say they’re investigating the discovery of a body at a recycling facility on Friday.

Scarborough Police said their department and the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body at Casella Recycling on Gibson Road around 9:15 a.m.

Police say a deceased male was found by the driver of a recycling truck owned by Troiano Waste Services of South Portland. The body was found in the contents of cardboard recycling the truck had emptied.

The body was brought to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy was scheduled for Friday afternoon.

The person’s identity was being withheld Friday afternoon pending notification of next of kin.
