Brownfield mother collecting Christmas cards for 8-year-old girl with leukemia

The mother of an 8-year-old girl with leukemia is asking the public to help her do something special for her daughter this holiday season. Kim Bishop of Brownfield is requesting Christmas cards for her daughter Melanie.

The two were supposed to go to Saturday’s Patriots game, but their trip was cancelled due to Melanie’s cancer treatment.

“And just watching your 8-year-old daughter just be so sick that, and her bones aching so that she doesn’t want to walk, it’s hard, because she’s my only little girl and for her to have to go through it’s been really tough,” Kim told our news partners at CBS 13.

Kim says her daughter is a special girl with a kind heart, and despite her cancer treatments, she continues to volunteer at the local animal shelter in Brownfield.
