Police and school officials are investigating after a child from Buxton was dragged more than 100 feet by his school bus.

It happened a little after after 3 p.m. on Thursday as the 6-year-old boy was getting off the bus outside his home on Dunnell Road.

Police say the boy’s backpack got stuck in the door of the bus.

The driver stopped after noticing the boy’s mother running alongside the bus trying to get it to stop.

The superintendent of MSAD 6 said the child was taken to the hospital after suffering skin abrasions, but he didn’t appear to be seriously hurt.
