BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) The Coast Guard is searching for three sailors reported missing off Maine’s Mount Desert Island.

The Coast Guard tweeted Saturday that the three were reportedly on a 40-foot sailboat about 20 miles south of Mount Desert Island.

Rescue crews from Southwest Harbor and Air Station Cape Cod were participating in the search. Also assisting was the Canadian Coast Guard.

The National Weather Service said seas were relatively calm, with 15 mph winds from the north.

Petty Officer Nicole Groll, a Coast Guard spokeswoman, said it was unclear how late into the night the search would continue. The original call for help came in early Saturday.
