Coast Guard ship to stop in Maine as part of bicentennial celebration

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle is coming to Portland in honor of Maine’s belated bicentennial celebration.

The Cutter Eagle, also known as America’s Tallest Ship, is 295 feet long and has a crew of 60 while also holding over 100 academy cadets.

The ship will be docking at Ocean Gateway at 8 a.m. Aug. 6 and will be staying until the 9th. The Eagle will be offering free tours, and more information on that will be released closer to the ship’s arrival.

The ship will be making its sixth stop in Portland as part of a world tour which includes stops in Bermuda and Iceland.
