Coronavirus deaths reach 50, new cases push total to 990

AUGUSTA (WGME) — Three new deaths from COVID-19 have pushed the state’s total to 50, with 25 new confirmed cases bringing Maine’s total to 990.

The Maine Centers for Disease Control reported the new information Saturday.

The deaths were three women above the age of 80 in Androscoggin, Franklin and Waldo counties.

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, 156 residents have been hospitalized at some point, with 39 people currently hospitalized, 17 in critical care and seven on ventilators.

The number of patients who have recovered now totals 519, up 20 from Friday’s report.

Cumberland County continues to have the most cases, up eight to 434, and deaths, which remain at 24.

York County has 194 cases with Kennebec County now with 101 cases.
