AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) The final day to apply for a place in the Maine moose permit lottery has arrived.
Maine gives out moose permits via a drawing every year, and entrants into the lottery must submit applications by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.
There are typically tens of thousands of entrants into the lottery and only about 2,000 permits.
The drawing is scheduled to be held in June.
The hunt itself runs from late September to late November.
