Police say a deadly collision in which a vehicle crashed into home in Madawaska last year has been ruled a murder-suicide.

Police say 44-year-old Shawn Cote intentionally drove his van into the home in March, killing a man inside the home, 71-year-old David Morin.

According to the 2023 homicide list Maine State Police released Friday, Morin’s death was ruled a homicide, while Cote’s death was ruled a suicide.

State police spokeswoman Shannon Moss says the two men did know each other, but Moss did not say how they knew each other.

She said no additional information will be released.

According to the Bangor Daily News, the owner of the Chez Helen restaurant in Madawaska says the two would often eat breakfast together at the establishment.
