Easton mother sentenced for toddler’s overdose death

A Maine woman will serve four years behind bars and six years of probation for the overdose death of her 1-year-old son.

According to the Portland Press Herald, 29-year-old Mariah Dobbins of Easton was found guilty of manslaughter in July of 2022 for the death of Jaden Raymond. He was pronounced dead in March of 2022. A report from the medical examiner’s office found that he died of a fentanyl overdose.

Dobbins told police she and her two sons had fallen asleep that morning while watching television. She says she woke up to find the boy lying face down on the floor and tried to save him with chest compressions.

She pleaded not guilty to murder in July of 2022.
