FBI Director Christopher Wray was in Portland on Tuesday to talk to law enforcement about their work.

Wray visited the FBI Boston Division’s Resident Agency in Portland. The discussion touched on several topics, including an initiative to target gang members in Maine and New Hampshire who are trafficking drugs in the region.

The FBI says the initiative has led to the arrests of 30 people, the seizure of six kilos of methamphetamine, four kilos of fentanyl, and one kilo of cocaine.

Collaboration on cases involving hate crimes and violent extremists were also discussed at Tuesday’s meeting.

”Focusing our investigations on the most violent offenders, extremists, and gangs to get the worst criminals off the streets, sharing analytical and investigative resources, and proactively engaging with the community are shared strategies that will make the neighborhoods of Maine safer,” Wray said. “We are committed to being a strong partner with you in that fight.”
