Federal prosecutors are recommending an over 15-year prison sentence for Jan. 6, rioter Kyle Fitzsimons of Lebanon Maine. Prosecutors say this sentence is for Fitzsimons’s “violent and aggressive” behavior during the attack on the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

According to the Portland Press Herald, a judge found 39-year-old Fitzsimons guilty of 11 charges in September. Two of the charges were for the assault of at least three officers guarding the Capitol. Seven of the charges were felonies.

If the 15-year recommendation is accepted, Fitzsimons would be receiving one of the highest sentences delivered among the Jan. 6 cases. Fitzsimons’s sentence is scheduled on June 13.

In addition to the sentence, prosecutors recommend three years of probation and around $26,000 in restitution.
