Portland fire crews worked last night to extinguish a large scrap metal fire at Radius Recycling on Riverside Street.

The Portland Fire Department says its crews were operating at an “all-hands” fire on Riverside Street, where a large pile of scrap metal caught fire.

Smoke from the fire could be seen from miles away as the metal burned, and Riverside Street was closed down while crews were on the scene.

There’s still no word on any injuries or the cause of the fire.
