Fire causes severe damage at Ogunquit condo

Two units are a total loss after fire broke out at a condominium complex in Ogunquit.

The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office says an alarm was activated at Ocean Meadows West around 4 a.m. Thursday, with fire quickly spreading from a rear deck up into an attic above a garage.

Two people were inside at the time but managed to get out without injuries.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, but investigators haven’t ruled out improperly disposed of smoking materials or staining and painting products which may have been left on the deck.
