Fire officials say a fire in front of Auburn City Hall on Thursday was sparked during the installation of a storm drain liner.

Surrounding streets and intersections were shut down after the fire was reported around 1:30 p.m.

Speaking with CBS 13 news, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Almquist said the material used in the storm drain liner is highly flammable.

Almquist says they had crews in the area and arrived at the scene within seconds, extinguishing the fire quickly.

One person was hospitalized with burns on their arms.
