Investigators have released the name of the woman who they believe died in the fire early Monday morning in Aroostook County.

State police announced Tuesday morning they believe the victim is 90-year-old Dawn Findlen, the owner of the home on Densmore Road in Fort Fairfield.

They say positive identification will be made later by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Investigators said because of the severity of the fire, the cause will remain undetermined.

Findlen and her late husband lived in the farmhouse for decades. Her husband died about a year ago and she had been living there alone ever since.

Using an excavator, crews located her body in the basement of the home at about 8:30 p.m. on Monday, after eight hours of digging through the rubble.
