No one was hurt in a fire at a condominium in South Portland.

Robb Couture with the South Portland Fire Department said crews responded to the fire at the Point Neck Condominiums on Preble Street around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.

The owner wasn’t home at the time, but crews were able to locate and rescue two cats that were inside.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames on the first floor, which took fire, water and smoke damage. The second floor took smoke damage. The unit is no longer habitable.

The fire appears to have been caused by an electrical issue related to a tabletop fan.
