Fisherman dies after getting pulled from water in Portland Harbor

PORTLAND (WGAN) Portland police say a fisherman who fell into the harbor Wednesday morning has died.

Portland Police Lieutenant Robert Martin said the 51-year-old man fell off a boat while it was docking at 2 Portland Fish Pier near the Marine Trade Center around 8:45 a.m. Martin said a crew member on a Coast Guard ship at the next pier over saw the accident and a rescue boat was launched to pull the man from the water.

He was taken to the hospital where he died.

The man’s identity has not been released.
