A former Maine police chief has pleaded guilty to multiple charges.

54-year-old Jeffrey Pomerleau worked for the Augusta Police Department for 17 years before becoming the police chief in Greeneville. He retired in 2020.

According to the Kennebec Journal, Pomerleau allegedly broke into a camp owned by his friend, fired a shotgun at the camp, and burned lawn furniture that belonged to the owner.

Pomerleau pleaded guilty to several charges including arson and burglary.

He agreed to enter a Veterans Court treatment program for military veterans. If he completes that requirement, only one misdemeanor will remain on his record and all other charges will be dismissed. If he doesn’t, he faces up to 30 years behind bars.
