Fort Fairfield woman charged in overdose death

A Maine woman is accused of supplying drugs to a man who died of an overdose.

Police say 36-year-old Amanda Doody of Fort Fairfield was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs resulting in death, and violating conditions of release.

Fort Fairfield police responded to a report of an overdose on Limestone Road around 1 a.m. Friday. The 40-year-old victim died despite efforts by first responders to resuscitate him.

Following an investigation, police arrested Doody, who’s being held at Aroostook County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.

Fort Fairfield police said the increase in overdoses and overdose deaths in Aroostook County is on a dangerous upward trend. They said that if you or someone you know is suffering from substance use disorder, you can contact the Aroostook Mental Health Center at 1-800-244-6431.
