Game wardens locate teen who got lost in woods while camping in Maine

A game warden and a K9 located a 15-year-old boy who went missing while he was camping in Oxford County.

The Maine Warden Service says the boy got lost after he got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

The teen from New York state went missing while on a backpacking trip on the Grafton Loop Trail, a remote 38-mile loop that connects nine mountain peaks.

He was on a trip with Overland Summers, a Massachusetts-based organization that specializes in youth outdoor adventure trips.

Members of the organization heard the boy got out of his tent around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday.

When he didn’t come back, they began looking for for him, but they couldn’t locate Beckman.

The group called 911 for help shorty after 5 a.m.

Game warden Preston Pomerleau and his K9 partner Gordon found the teen in the woods shortly after 3 p.m. a little less than half a mile from his campsite.

The boy did not require medical attention.
