Gov. Janet Mills announcing today that the state is indefinitely extending the requirement for certain Maine businesses to close by 9 p.m.

Gov. mills says the curfew is aimed at limiting activities that lead to COVID-19 transmission and does so during later hours when people are more likely to lower their guard, jeopardizing adherence to critical public health and safety measures.

Businesses can maintain daytime operations and can continue to offer curbside pick-up and delivery service after 9 p.m.

Maine has recently seen an increase in the COVID-19 positivity rate, including 590 additional cases today.

The curfew was originally set to expire on January 3.
