Hampden Man Arrested and Charged With Murder

HAMPDEN, Maine (WGAN) Maine State Police say a Hampden man is in custody and charged with murder.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says 55-year-old Philip Clark was charged with murder for the death of a woman on Kennebec Road in Hampden. State police arrived at the home on Thursday night at the request of Hampden police for a welfare check.

Police say the woman’s body is being brought to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta for an autopsy. Detectives are still working to identify the woman and determine a cause of death.

Police say Clark and the woman shared the residence on Kennebec Road.

McCausland said more information would be made public after the autopsy, which is expected to be completed on Saturday.
