Historic bridge in Aroostook County considered a total loss after fire

A historic Maine bridge built in 1911 was destroyed in a fire on Monday.

Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says the Watson Settlement Bridge in Littleton is a complete loss after the fire Monday. Fire officials were called to the scene to investigate around 2:45 p.m.

The bridge, which spans the Meduxnekeag River, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Investigators are looking into the fire’s cause and asking anyone with information to reach out to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
