Inmate from Presque Isle dies at Maine State Prison

A Presque Isle man who was being held at the Maine State Prison in Warren has died.

According to the Maine Dept. of Corrections, Robert Carney, 59, died just after 7 p.m. on Thursday.

In August of last year, Carney was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with all but eight years suspended, for aggravated trafficking.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the Maine Attorney General’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner were notified.

A cause of death was not released on Thursday.
